Annoying ducks

We had a relaxed day at another camping. Ducks were everywhere (in New Zealand in general!) they tried to steal our clothes and food and almost stole my swimming gear. We saw a cool jetski in the middle of the water. Tobin was running around the car while we were having breakfast. My parents saw a Wallaby when we were sleeping (mom addition: not native to New Zealand, but imported from Australia, now only in a small part of the country, but quickly becoming a pest).
The next day we went to the hot pools (in Rotorua), it stank like rotten eggs. We first saw this small hot pool where you have to put your feet in and it was burning hot, after a few minutes you get used to it. Long ago the Maori used to throw their eggs in the hot pools to boil them. Then we saw a mountain of rocks where hot water surfaced. Then we went to a big playground and walked to a beach where we saw huge swans but they were black instead of white, it was pretty cool. When you walked on the pier, they were all around you. Further was a broken pier full of seagulls and ducks. Like there were different places for different birds.
The next day we went to this place where you have to go with a boat and walk around for an hour to see thermal activity. It stank more like rotten eggs and we could run through the steam that came over the path. If you would put your leg in, you would burn it; it would feel like you put it in fire. We also saw some trees that were hanging over the hot areas and became stone from the heat. There are these very light rocks that are made from the heat/lava (pumice) and you can easily lift them.
The next day we went to do some mountain biking again. It was very fun, but very hard. There were these things where you almost fell off. There was a steep mountain and I felt like I was going to bump into the wall, but I didn’t!!!
The next day we went to another camping, but it was fully booked. And then, my dad was working on the car, we all had to get out of the car, and then something exploded in the motor and the whole car was under the oily water (mom insert – coolant).
Then we went to climb a very old volcano (Tongariro), first we took a gondola and then we started a 3 hours walk up the mountain to a ridge. It was very hard, but once we reached the top it was a beautiful view and we were almost in the clouds. It was a lot of rock climbing. On the top, I found a ‘dead’ cicada, it was very big, almost as big as the palm of my hand. We wanted to take it with us, but once we were walking it flew away.
The next day we went to a playground that was full of carrots. You could stand under a carrot and pose with it. There was a carrot rocket, carrot car, patato guy. There was a big carrot at the end of the playground and my mom and dad read that the carrot was very old and people would come and take photos with it even before the playground was there. Then we brought our car to the garage to change the brake pads.
The next day we went to another museum of the Māori in Wellington. And we saw old canoes (with eyes) and old temples of the Māori, and how they used to travel on the seas using the stars. We also saw a lot of rocks that they had carved. We went to the playground and the beach and Tobin and I spotted a dead sea star with a lot of legs which was stranded and we helped it back into the water. For diner we went to a Vietnamese restaurant. It was delicious, we all ate noodles, except for Tobin, he ate chicken and rice. On our way back to the campervan we saw funny statues that were people’s faces.
